Canon 855

1. In order for the baptized party to celebrate another marriage validly, the non-baptized party must be interrogated as to

whether: (1) he or she wants to receive baptism; (2) he or she

at least wishes to cohabit with the baptized party in peace without insult to the Creator. 2. This interrogation must be conducted after baptism, but the local hierarch for a serious reason

can permit the interrogation to be conducted before the baptism,

or even to dispense with the interrogation either before or after

the baptism, if by means of at least a summary and extra-judicial

process it is established that it cannot be done or that it would

be useless.
