Canon 893

1. The following persons can dispense from a private vow for a

just reason provided the dispensation does not injure a right acquired by others: (1) for his own subjects, any hierarch, pastor, and local superior of an institute of consecrated life who

has the power of governance; (2) for other Christian faithful of

his own Church sui iuris while they are present within the territorial boundaries of the eparchy, a local hierarch; and also a

local pastor within the territorial boundaries of his own parish;

(3) for those who are present day and night in a house of an institute of consecrated life, the local superior, who has the

power of governance, and his major superior. 2. Under the same

condition, but only for the internal forum, this dispensation can

be granted by any confessor.
