Canon 975

1. Unless other provisions are made in law, a person cannot be

removed from an office conferred for an indefinite period of time

except for grave reasons and according to the procedure determined by law; the same holds for the removal of someone from an

office conferred for a determined period of time before the term

has expired. 2. When, in accordance with the prescriptions of

law, an office has been conferred on someone at the prudent discretion of a competent authority, that person can be removed from

office for a cause which is, in the judgment of the same authority, considered just with due regard for equity.
