Canon 1021

1. Unless other provisions have been made, each eparchy, according to the particular law of the proper Church sui iuris of

which it is a part, is to have a special fund which collects

goods and offerings, and whose purpose is to provide appropriately for the decent and fundamentally equal support of all the

clerics who serve the eparchy. 2. Wherever social security and

health insurance have not yet been suitably arranged for the

clergy, the particular law of each Church sui iuris will provide

for the creation of institutes safeguarding these benefits and

put them under the vigilance of the local hierarch. 3. Insofar

as it is necessary, each eparchy is to establish a general fund

according to a manner defined by the particular law of its own

Church sui iuris, through which the eparchial bishops can satisfy

obligations towards other persons who serve the Church as well as

meet the various needs of the eparchy; this fund can also be the

means through which the wealthier eparchies can aid the poorer

ones.
