Canon 1153

1. An action to execute a penalty is extinguished by prescription if the guilty party has not been notified of the judge's

decree of execution within the time limits indicated in can. 1152

which are to be computed from the day on which the condemnatory

sentence became an adjudged matter (res iudicata). 2. All

other things being observed that are to be observed, the same

holds true if the penalty was imposed through an extra-judicial

decree.
