Canon 1177

1. Incidental questions which may arise are to be resolved by

decree of the arbitrators. 2. If, however, a prejudicial question arises which cannot be entrusted to compromise by arbitrators, they are to suspend the process until the parties have received a sentence from the judge and notified the arbitrators of

the sentence; it then becomes an adjudged matter (res iudicata),

or, if it concerns the status of persons, the sentence may be

mandated for execution.
