Canon 1242

The questioning of a witness is conducted by the judge, a delegate or an auditor, who is to be assisted by a notary; as a result, if the parties, or the promoter of justice, or the defender

of the bond, or the advocates who are present at the questioning

have further questions to be put to the witness, they are to

propose these questions not to the witness but to the judge or

the person taking the judge's place who is to ask them, unless

particular law provides otherwise.
