Interlocutor

 1 Capt|           the love of things and of God; the stages of life and
 2 Capt|           the sea; and the ideas of God, as much as mortal man can
 3 Capt|            he knows not in what way God rules the universe, nor
 4 Capt|             by a distinct decree of God. They do not abstain from
 5 Capt|            knelt in the presence of God, that he might inspire their
 6 Capt|           invoking the vengeance of God — the God of Sabaoth — for
 7 Capt|          the vengeance of God — the God of Sabaoth — for destruction
 8 Capt|         thank-offerings are made to God, and then the general presents
 9 Capt|           which is brought forth by God, except when there has been
10 Capt|             since they are given by God to remove melancholy and
11 Capt|           plants, and by prayers to God. Fevers recurring every
12 Capt|        nation laments and beseeches God that his anger may be appeased,
13 Capt|            the republic, or against God, or against the supreme
14 Capt|               viz., the essences of God, of the angels, of the world,
15 Capt|           sacrifices and prayers to God. And before this he confesses
16 Capt|          people, in the presence of God, and publicly in the temple,
17 Capt|    Afterward he offers sacrifice to God, that he should pardon the
18 Capt|           himself as a sacrifice to God for the sake of his fellows.
19 Capt|           This done they cry to the God of mercy, that he may accept
20 Capt|             fasting he cries to the God of heaven that he might
21 Capt|           thirty days, the anger of God being appeased, the sacrifice
22 Capt|            sake of his country. But God does not require death.~
23 Capt|           chants in the presence of God. It is also their work to
24 Capt| intercessors and connection between God and man. And it is from
25 Capt|          meal they return thanks to God. Then they sing the deeds
26 Capt|       petition "As it seems best to God." The public prayer for
27 Capt|        representatives and signs of God, as the temples and holy
28 Capt|          worship. This they give to God alone, and thus they serve
29 Capt|           They contemplate and know God under the image of the Sun,
30 Capt|            they call it the sign of God, His face and living image,
31 Capt|              and the priests praise God in the sun and in the stars,
32 Capt|            their strong abodes. For God long since set signs of
33 Capt|              sun, and earth, but to God only; for in respect to
34 Capt|           chance; but in respect to God, whose instruments we are,
35 Capt|          are bound to no father but God, and receive all things
36 Capt|         with the infinite entity of God. They lay down two principles
37 Capt|         entity which is the highest God, and nothingness which is
38 Capt|           out of them. They worship God in trinity, saying God is
39 Capt|      worship God in trinity, saying God is the Supreme Power, whence
40 Capt|              which is the same with God, and from these comes Love,
41 Capt|            know not what we do, but God knows, whose instruments
42 Capt|             of gold and riches, but God works to a higher end. The
43 Capt|         produce plants and men, but God guides the battle to great
44 Capt|                     CAPT. Ah, well! God gives all in His good time.
