1 1 | 1~1. Mencius went to see king Hûi of Liang.~2. The king

17 2 | the lower part of it. The king saw him, and asked, Where
18 2 | bell with its blood. The king said, Let it go. I cannot
19 2 | consecration of the bell ? The king said, How can that be omitted?
20 2 | really occurred.'~5. The king replied, 'It did,' and then
21 2 | you do as you did.'~6. The king said, 'You are right. And
22 2 | between an ox and a sheep? The king laughed and said, 'What
23 2 | slaughter-house and cook-room.'~9. The king was pleased, and said, '
24 2 | able to do it.'~11. The king asked, 'How may the difference

27 2 | you greatly desire?' The king laughed and did not speak.

39 3 | That sounds as if our king were free from all sickness!

41 3 | sway awaits you.'~1. The king Hsüan of Ch'î asked, 'Was

43 3 | as that?' exclaimed the king. 'The people,' said Mencius, '
