 1 5|      will is the leader of the passion-nature. The passion-nature pervades
 2 5|        the passion-nature. The passion-nature pervades and animates the
 3 5|       first and chief, and the passion-nature is subordinate to it. Therefore
 4 5|      and do no violence to the passion-nature.'~10. Ch'âu observed, 'Since
 5 5|     The will is chief, and the passion-nature is subordinate," how do
 6 5|      and do no violence to the passion-nature?"' Mencius replied, 'When
 7 5|        is active, it moves the passion-nature. When it is the passion-nature
 8 5| passion-nature. When it is the passion-nature alone which is active, it
 9 5|      running, that is from the passion-nature, and yet it moves the mind.'~
10 5|    nourishing my vast, flowing passion-nature.'~12. Ch'âu pursued, 'I
11 5|     mean by your vast, flowing passion-nature!' The reply was, 'It is
12 5|  describe it.~13. 'This is the passion-nature: -- It is exceedingly great,
13 5|        earth.~14. 'This is the passion-nature: -- It is the mate and assistant
14 5|      of thereby nourishing the passion-nature. Let not the mind forget
15 5|     who do not deal with their passion-nature, as if they were assisting
