6 II| beginneth the Life of S. Thomas the Apostle. ~Thomas is
7 II| S. Thomas the Apostle. ~Thomas is as much to say as abysm
8 II| is said didimus; or else Thomas is said of Thomos, which
9 II| but only in seeing, but Thomas knew him both seeing and
10 II| at the resurrection. Or Thomas is said as, appeared again,
11 II| to forsake the world. Or Thomas is as much to say as alway
12 II| contemplation of God. Or Thomas is as much as: My God, because
13 II| My God and my Lord. ~S. Thomas, when he was in Cæsarea,
14 II| send thee to him. And S. Thomas said: Sir, send me over
15 II| crown of martyrdom. And Thomas said to him: Thou art my
16 II| Lord delivered to him S. Thomas the Apostle, and told to
17 II| happed that the provost and Thomas went thither, and an Hebrew
18 II| beheld him, and saw that Thomas ate not ne drank not, but

37 II| which all were against S. Thomas. And then the king sitting
38 II| forefathers' days. Then S. Thomas spake for the part of holy
39 II| and waxed wroth with S. Thomas. And then certain bishops
40 II| certain bishops required S. Thomas to obey to the king's desire

42 II| one point of them. Then S. Thomas said to the king with full

62 II| observe the same. And then S. Thomas offered to the pope his
63 II| than he was. And after S. Thomas said mass tofore the pope
64 II| that were longing to S. Thomas that they should incontinent
65 II| no longer keep ne sustain Thomas the Archbishop, for if they
66 II| brought him on the way. And S. Thomas told him how he knew by
67 II| there told the king how S. Thomas would destroy his realm,
68 II| tofore him, wherefore S. Thomas was sent for, and they were
69 II| laws and accustoms, and S. Thomas would not grant that he
70 II| should do England against S. Thomas, and was wroth with him
71 II| his kinsmen. And then S. Thomas wist not whither to go;
72 II| crowned him, wherefore S. Thomas gat a bull for to do accurse
73 II| the king of England and S. Thomas which accord endured not
74 II| from it afterward. But S. Thomas, upon this accord, came
75 II| and emprised to slay S. Thomas, and suddenly departed and
76 II| Breton. On Christmas day S. Thomas made a sermon at Canterbury
77 II| Evensong time, and came to S. Thomas and said that the king commanded
78 II| should slay him. Then said Thomas: All that I ought to do
79 II| cost thee thy life. And S. Thomas said: Thou knowest well
80 II| and blessed Archbishop S. Thomas suffered death in his own
81 II| absolution. ~Now after that S. Thomas departed from the pope,
82 II| the white chasuble that S. Thomas had said mass in, and the
