1 II| The History of Saul. ~The first Sunday after
2 II| Benjamin whose name was Saul, a good man and chosen,
3 II| tribe the lot fell upon Saul the son of Kish. And they

5 II| and he defended them, and Saul had divers battles and had
6 II| Samuel came on a time to Saul and said God commanded him

9 II| morn he rose and came to Saul, and Saul offered sacrifice

11 II| And Samuel demanded of Saul what noise that was he heard
12 II| God. Then said Samuel to Saul: Rememberest thou not that
13 II| sight of God? And then said Saul to Samuel: I have taken
14 II| shalt not be king. Then said Saul to Samuel: I have sinned

16 II| our Lord went away from Saul and an evil spirit oft vexed
17 II| our Lord is with him. Then Saul sent messages to Jesse for

42 II| him. And it was told to Saul that David was with Samuel,
43 II| also prophesied. And then Saul being wroth asked where
44 II| loved well David. After this Saul ever sought for to slay
45 II| slay David. And on a time Saul went into a cave for to
46 II| pleasure. And he went to Saul and cut off a gobet of his
47 II| mantle and kept it. And when Saul was gone out, soon after
48 II| issued David out and cried to Saul saying: Lo! Saul, God hath
49 II| cried to Saul saying: Lo! Saul, God hath brought thee into
50 II| slay me? Who art thou? said Saul. Art thou not David my son?
51 II| worshipped him. Then said Saul: I have sinned, and wept
52 II| David sware and promised to Saul. And then Saul departed
53 II| promised to Saul. And then Saul departed and went home,
54 II| were his wives. ~After this Saul alway sought David for to
55 II| called Zyphites told to Saul that David was hid in the
56 II| part of the wilderness, and Saul took with him three thousand
57 II| he heard of the coming of Saul went into the place whereas
58 II| went into the place whereas Saul was, and when he was asleep
59 II| went into the tent where Saul slept, and Abner with him
60 II| that stood at his head. Saul knew the voice of David
61 II| between thee and me. And Saul said: I have sinned, return,
62 II| deliver me from all anguish. Saul said then to David: Blessed
63 II| David went then his way, and Saul returned home again. ~And
64 II| and come into the hands of Saul, it is better I flee from
65 II| dwelled there. And when Saul understood that he was with
66 II| people against Israel. And Saul assembled all Israel and
67 II| came unto Gilboa; and when Saul saw al! the host of the

73 II| the Philistines assailed Saul and them of Israel, and
74 II| Philistines smote in against Saul and his sons, and slew Jonathan
75 II| and Melchi-shua, sons of Saul. And all the burden of the
76 II| the battle was turned on Saul, and the archers followed
77 II| wounded him sore. Then said Saul to his squire: Pluck out
78 II| was greatly afeard. Then Saul took his sword and slew
79 II| squire saw, that is that Saul was dead, he took his sword
80 II| dead with him. Thus was Saul dead, and his three sons
81 II| of Israel fled, and that Saul and his three sons were
82 II| were dead, and they found Saul and his three sons Iying
83 II| they cut off the head of Saul, and robbed him of his armour,
84 II| Philistines had done unto Saul, all the strongest men of
85 II| took down the bodies of Saul and of his sons from the
86 II| Thus endeth the life of Saul which was first king upon
87 II| how David reigned after Saul, and governed Israel. Shortly
88 II| touched. ~After the death of Saul David returned from the
89 II| came one from the host of Saul, and told to David how that
90 II| they were fled, and how Saul the king and Jonathan his
91 II| tidings: How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan be dead? And
