1 VII| followeth the Life of S. Katherine, virgin and martyr, and
2 VII| and first of her name.~KATHERINE is said of catha, that is
3 VII| despised all worldly things. Or Katherine may be said as, a little
4 VII| four degrees were in her.~Katherine, by descent of line, was
5 VII| of God and merits of S. Katherine.~And as we find by credible
6 VII| said, was engendered S. Katherine, which came of the lineage
7 VII| followeth the Life of S. Katherine.~In the year of our Lord
8 VII| brought forth this blessed S. Katherine. And when this holy virgin
9 VII| visage and so well formed Katherine in her members that all
10 VII| came to this young lady, Katherine, and desired her to make
11 VII| answer. This young queen Katherine, hearing this request, was
12 VII| And when this young queen Katherine had achieved her answer,
13 VII| Then said this young Queen Katherine with a sad countenance:
14 VII| him that we will have to Katherine our lord and husband, and
15 VII| then said this young Queen Katherine unto her mother, with a
16 VII| departed. And this noble young Katherine went to her palace, whose
17 VII| the palace of the queen Katherine, and say to her that the
18 VII| when this blessed virgin Katherine had heard his message and
19 VII| sorrowed, the blessed virgin Katherine apperceived and demanded
20 VII| and bright that the virgin Katherine ne the old man might not
21 VII| and said to this virgin: Katherine, stand up our dear sister,
22 VII| then this blessed virgin Katherine with trembling joy passed
23 VII| virgins, which led the virgin Katherine, fell down flat tofore this
24 VII| chastity? And then this holy Katherine kneeling with most humble
25 VII| change not her name, for Katherine shall she be named and I
26 VII| humble servant and ancille Katherine, which for your love hath
27 VII| the earth. And said to her Katherine, come hither to me. And
28 VII| wherefore this glorious virgin, Katherine, ought to be honoured, lauded,
29 VII| marriage, said unto the blessed Katherine: Now the time is come that
30 VII| And the blessed virgin Katherine took all his comforts and
31 VII| the palace, and said to Katherine: We have heard thy fair
32 VII| thou? And the holy virgin Katherine said: Praise not thyself
33 VII| avaunting but by humility. I am Katherine, daughter of Costus the
34 VII| wounds of the holy virgin Katherine. And then S. Katherine began
35 VII| virgin Katherine. And then S. Katherine began to preach to the queen
36 VII| whom the blessed virgin Katherine said: Understand, I pray
37 VII| unto martyrdom, she prayed Katherine to pray God for her, and
38 VII| dogs, and then called he Katherine and said to her: Howbeit
39 VII| toward this holy virgin S. Katherine, wherefore by common assent
40 VII| of the glorious virgin S. Katherine, to his sovereign honour
41 VII| devoutly in the service of S. Katherine, and on a time as he prayed
42 VII| a man much devout to S. Katherine and oft called on her to
43 VII| virgins said that it was Katherine whom thou wert wont for
44 VII| that this blessed virgin S. Katherine seemeth and appeareth marvellous
45 VII| mathematical. The blessed Katherine had science intellectual
46 VII| she was, and said: I am Katherine, daughter of king Costus,
47 VII| sciences had the blessed Katherine. First, she had in herself
48 VII| these three sciences had Katherine in her, for she disputed
49 VII| for she had fair speech in Katherine preaching as it appeared
50 VII| these things the blessed Katherine kept her chastity, for she
51 VII| in this blessed virgin S. Katherine as it appeareth in her legend.
