I| plagues~Make sport of it: oft builds the tiny mouse~Her
I| stream the bleating flock.~Oft too with oil or apples plenty-cheap~
I| stalks and flying straws.~Oft too comes looming vast along
I| above the soaring cloud.~Oft, too, when wind is toward,
I| chant their dirge of old.~Oft, too, the ant from out her
I| oer repeated, and full oft~On their high cradles, by
I| draws to his decline: for oft we see~Upon the sun’s own
I| leasing? He it is who warneth oft~Of hidden broils at hand
I| thunderbolts,~Nor blazed so oft the comet’s fire of bale.~
II| from the sapless wood,~And oft the branches of one kind
II| victims mightiest, which full oft have led,~Bathed in thy
II| fruitful breast,~Such as full oft in hollow mountain-dell~
II| tally to perfection. Even as oft~In mighty war, whenas the

III| woodland. She indeed full oft~With her sweet charms can
III| breezes take their fill;~And oft unmated, marvellous to tell,~
III| Hippomanes, fell stepdames oft have culled,~And mixed with
III| scattered huts~They house in? Oft their cattle day and night~
III| to ships;~Brass vessels oft asunder burst, and clothes~
III| desperadoes in the rear.~And oft the shy wild asses thou

III| galbanum to drive away.~Oft under long-neglected cribs,
III| Seest one far afield    ~Oft to the shade’s mild covert
III| corruption to itself absorbed.~Oft in mid sacrifice to heaven30 IV| pitch from Ida’s pines.~Oft too in burrowed holes, if

  IV| essay~Brief out-goings, and oft weigh-up tiny stones,~As
IV| and waxen realm repair.~Oft, too, while wandering, against
IV| surround,~In crowds attend, oft shoulder him on high,~Or
IV| the empty wax away? for oft~Into their comb the newt
IV| chaplets woven hereof full oft are decked~Heaven’s altars:
IV| of slaughtered bullocks oft has borne~Bees from corruption.
