 1    I|    reared.~Up then! if fat the soil, let sturdy bulls~Upturn
 2    I|       rich to soak the thirsty soil,~And shower foul ashes o’
 3    I|       beast in turning oft the soil,~Do greedy goose and Strymon-haunting
 4    I|      hardy spelt,~Thou tax the soil, to corn-ears wholly given,~
 5    I|      my country, heroes of the soil,~And Romulus, and Mother
 6   II|        Nature lurks within the soil. And yet~Even these, should
 7   II|        woodland berries. But a soil that’s rich,~In moisture
 8   II|       and rich,~With crumbling soil— for this we counterfeit~
 9   II|       to its proper bounds~The soil returns not, but fills all
10   II|      of them that try it. Rich soil again~We learn on this wise:
11   II| prolific kindred. Fields whose soil~Is crumbling are the best:
12   II|     weighty-wise, ~To stir the soil when stiff with Boreas’
13   II|     cumbrous hoes, or task the soil~With burrowing plough-share,
14   II|   beyond exhausting; the whole soil~Thrice, four times, yearly
15   II|     once they have gripped the soil, and borne the breeze.~Earth
16   II|       too happy tillers of the soil, ~Could they but know their
17   II|   hooked ploughshare turns the soil; from hence~Springs his
18  III|    west.~This do they that the soil’s prolific powers~May not
19  III|       with rakes~They grub the soil, aye, with their very nails~
