 1    I|        earth~Cast stones, whence men, a flinty race, were reared.~
 2    I|     glebe, whetting the minds of men~With care on care, nor suffering
 3    I|    shrieking saw-blade,— for the men of old~With wedges wont
 4    I|         Many the precepts of the men of old ~I can recount thee,
 5    I|        and stars, ~And wherefore men must watch, when now the
 6   II|        reared a valiant breed of men,~The Marsi and Sabellian
 7   II|       generation, many an age~Of men roll onward, and survives
 8   II|          sunlight, and a race~Of men like iron from the hard
 9   II|        forth radiance. And shall men be loath~To plant, nor lavish
10   II|         cypress for the homes of men;~Hence, too, the farmers
11   II|        bathed in brothers’ blood~Men revel, and, all delights
