1     I,       I| boulders, imbedded in snow and ice, the Alpine vegetation thrives.
2    II,       X|        inanimate as a block of ice.~ ~"Flamma!" I cried, "what
3    II,     XVI|        all this be true? Could ice be kindled into flames,
4    II,     XVI|     and could flames freeze to ice? How was I to believe that
5    II,    XVII|     love, nor to freeze in the ice of solitude and self-abnegation.
