 1     I,    XIII|         slender girl is Countess Flamma, a miracle of beauty and
 2     I,    XIII|         names - "Diodora! Cenni! Flamma!" The first domineering,
 3    II,       I|    Countess Diodora and Countess Flamma. The latter turned to me,
 4    II,       I|       Why, what mystery is this? Flamma was complaining something
 5    II,      II|      smoke that the pale face of Flamma had coloured violently,
 6    II,     III|    unruly activity; and Countess Flamma's pensive silence affected
 7    II,     III|   pleasant. When, the other day, Flamma and I had made some remark
 8    II,      IV|       through and through, while Flamma's pale face was overspread
 9    II,      IV|     anybody to stay with her but Flamma. That kind soul is with
10    II,       V|         after luncheon, Countess Flamma turned to me with the question -~ ~"

33    II,      IX|      other intentions concerning Flamma's future," said Diodora
34    II,      IX|    embarrassed silence, and then Flamma smiled, and Diodora also.
35    II,      IX|   ceremony I shall hand you over Flamma's dowry, which she has inherited
36    II,      IX|     bowed in silence, looking at Flamma.~ ~"No; this is a matter
37    II,      IX|         leave. I turned first to Flamma, who laid both her hands
38    II,      IX|          kiss me!~ ~A week later Flamma and I were married. Everything
39    II,      IX|       great portals I drove with Flamma; from the other, Diodora
