Rome, September 30, 1892

 

Following your letter of the 28th of this month to me,19 the Holy Father has graciously appointed His Eminence Card. Agostino Bausa as Protector of your Congregation of Missionaries for the Italian emigrants and on this date is sending the document of appointment to the aforementioned Cardinal Archbishop of Florence.

            I am happy to pass this news on to you for your consolation and with the greatest esteem I remain

19 Scalabrini communicated that Card. Bausa had accepted the appointment as Protector and transmitted the Cardinal’s acceptance (ASV, SS, 1894, rub. 17, single fasc., f. 111–112).
