44 The Sisters of the Daughters of St. Anne, was founded by Mother Rosa Gattorno in Piacenza . In 1891 on Bishop Scalabrini’s request five of these Sisters went to New York, but after a few months they returned to Italy. The events regarding this foundation of the Sisters of St. Anne is well documented in the correspondence regarding this New York House between Bishop Scalabrini and his Secretary Msgr. Mangot with the Foundress Rosa Gattorno and between her and Sr. A. Berta Belliti, who led the Sisters to New York. Cf. Figlie di Sant’Anna, Historical Archives (via Merulana,17700185 Rome).
