Most Reverend Excellency:
On my part, I would be very happy to have a
community of the Sisters of

the Order of St. Anne44 to teach girls and perform other
charitable works. Therefore, I beg you to send me some Sisters of that
Institute.
Your
most humble and devoted servant,

44 The Sisters of the Daughters of St.
Anne, was founded by Mother Rosa Gattorno in Piacenza . In 1891 on Bishop Scalabrini’s
request five of these Sisters went to New York,
but after a few months they returned to Italy. The events regarding this
foundation of the Sisters of St. Anne is well documented in the correspondence
regarding this New York House between Bishop Scalabrini and his Secretary Msgr.
Mangot with the Foundress Rosa Gattorno and between her and Sr. A. Berta Belliti,
who led the Sisters to New York.
