Dear Sir,

Please be generous in your understanding of my delay in answering your most esteemed letter of the 2nd. I have been away from the City for duties of ministry.

            Finally acceding to your desire, the local Committee for emigration will be formed by the Very Rev. Dr. Francesco Casoni, a canon of this cathedral, by the Very Rev. Giuseppe Sartori, Archpriest of St. Mary of Charity, and by the Very Rev. Dr. Gaetano Mortara, Professor in this seminary. They will correspond with your Central Committee on everything pertaining to the good of the poor emigrants.

            I take this occasion to renew my esteem
