Dear Bishop:
With deep regret, I realize it will be impossible for me to go and meet you this evening. A minor unforeseen problem takes away the pleasure I would have had of conversing with you.
I will be honored to visit you tomorrow in the early afternoon at the Archbishop’s House. Tomorrow night I depart for St. Paul, but before leaving New York I want to wish you a happy return to Piacenza.
