THE EXILE’S DESIRE
I want to lie down on the grass,
To sing, be happy,
To watch the cattle
As they graze,
To look upon green pastures
Billowing in the wind,
And people as they work
And young girls singing!
I love the flowers
And butterflies upon them
And the nightingales
Under the warm sun.
I love my Albania
Where I once lived,
And walked in woods,
And played with lambs.
Just this is my desire
I don’t want more, or less.
To return there my sole desire
Until my dying day.
