Poem

 1 1|     my father’s choice.~    I stood at the window, looking down
 2 3|     onto the courtyard. As we stood there, a cream-coloured
 3 4|   reply, nor did my mother. I stood in front of him defiantly.
 4 4|     that I was paling.~    He stood in front of me for a moment,
 5 4|   myself to sit down again. I stood staring at the blank wall
 6 4|    professor was gone, too. I stood there clutching my notebook
 7 4|   that moment I recalled as I stood in the kitchen, as my mother
 8 5|      asked anxiously.~    She stood beside me and stroked my
 9 7|  quieter.~    At the entrance stood a short man with a brimmed
10 7| shrill quivering voice.~    I stood a little apart from them.
11 7|    one word: "Gossip."~    We stood at the bus stop. Take Doko
12 7|        stroking her hair. She stood silent and I could feel
