Dialogue

 1  Gorg|         their agreement with the spirit of Plato, and the amount
 2  Gorg| rhetorician, is concentrated the spirit of evil against which Socrates
 3  Gorg|      Socrates is contending, the spirit of the world, the spirit
 4  Gorg|         spirit of the world, the spirit of the many contending against
 5  Gorg|       not in accordance with the spirit of Plato. He supposes a
 6  Gorg|      closer resemblances both of spirit and language in the Republic
 7  Gorg|         and the good.~In general spirit and character, that is,
 8  Gorg|       really opposed both to the spirit of Plato and of ancient
 9  Gorg|          rate they must have the spirit and desire to be. If they
10  Gorg|       must breathe into them the spirit which will hereafter give
11  Gorg|          truth. And in a similar spirit he declares in the Gorgias
12  Gorg|          his own critic, for the spirit of poetry and of criticism
13  Gorg|        but he has not the higher spirit of poetry. He has no conception
14  Gorg|       have a serious purpose; in spirit they are mediaeval. They
15  Gorg|          in his own language and spirit, and dislikes any other.
