 1 Lysis|           who loves, or he who is loved? Or are both friends? From
 2 Lysis|          what if the lover is not loved in return? which is a very
 3 Lysis|          either that they are not loved in return, or that they
 4 Lysis|           loves, and the other is loved?~Yes.~Then which is the
 5 Lysis|        the beloved, whether he be loved in return, or hated; or
 6 Lysis|         were friends, if one only loved; but now, unless they both
 7 Lysis|        Clearly.~Then many men are loved by their enemies, and hated
 8 Lysis|           friend of that which is loved?~True.~And the hater will
 9 Lysis|        the other, how can they be loved by one another? Can they
10 Lysis|     cannot.~And can he who is not loved be a friend?~Certainly not.~
11 Lysis|         think so.~And the good is loved for the sake of the evil?
12 Lysis|          nature of the good—to be loved by us who are placed between
13 Lysis|           another would ever have loved or desired or affected him,
14 Lysis|          congenial nature must be loved.~It follows, he said.~Then
15 Lysis| counterfeit, must of necessity be loved by his love.~Lysis and Menexenus
