Dialogue

 1 Phaedo|        while he lives, should he fear that other death, through
 2 Phaedo|        and his friends.~Still, a fear is expressed that the soul
 3 Phaedo|      come from the dead. But the fear that the soul at departing
 4 Phaedo|       away. He proceeds: When we fear that the soul will vanish
 5 Phaedo|         this abstraction. In her fear of the world below she lingers
 6 Phaedo|        circumstances there is no fear of the future. Often, as
 7 Phaedo| altogether shut out the childish fear that the soul upon leaving
 8 Phaedo|        himself and them;’ or his fear of ‘misology;’ or his references
 9 Phaedo|         are courageous only from fear, and because they are afraid;
10 Phaedo|        should be courageous from fear, and because he is a coward,
11 Phaedo|          Yet the exchange of one fear or pleasure or pain for
12 Phaedo|     pleasure or pain for another fear or pleasure or pain, and
13 Phaedo|          to be incredulous; they fear that when she has left the
14 Phaedo|           Socrates, but I rather fear that to-morrow, at this
15 Phaedo|           you are haunted with a fear that when the soul leaves
16 Phaedo|        you have charmed away the fear.~And where shall we find
17 Phaedo|    scattered, and about which we fear? and what again is that
18 Phaedo|      that about which we have no fear? And then we may proceed
19 Phaedo|           accustomed to hate and fear and avoid the intellectual
20 Phaedo|        to them,—not because they fear poverty or the ruin of their
21 Phaedo|     freed from human ills. Never fear, Simmias and Cebes, that
22 Phaedo|       will always have reason to fear that when the body is disunited,
23 Phaedo|        not devoid of sense, must fear, if he has no knowledge
24 Phaedo|           and even if I could, I fear, Simmias, that my life would
25 Phaedo|        manner, without the least fear or change of colour or feature,
