Dialogue

 1 Repub|       not the chief elements of temperance, speaking generally, obedience
 2 Repub|      but they do not conduce to temperance. And therefore they are
 3 Repub|       is it fit or conducive to temperance for a young man to hear
 4 Repub|      courage, and the strain of temperance; these, I say, leave. ~And
 5 Repub|     know the essential forms of temperance, courage, liberality, magnificence,
 6 Repub|        pleasure any affinity to temperance? ~How can that be? he replied;
 7 Repub|         music was the parent of temperance in the soul; and simplicity
 8 Repub|     which, as we said, inspires temperance, will be reluctant to go

20 Repub|       the other valiant; not so temperance, which extends to the whole,
21 Repub|     Most truly then may we deem temperance to be the agreement of the
22 Repub|       when the other virtues of temperance and courage and wisdom are
23 Repub|      political virtues, wisdom, temperance, courage. ~Yes, he said. ~
24 Repub|     that is the true account of temperance whether in the State or
25 Repub|        truth, justice, courage, temperance, who are his kindred? ~The
