Dialogue

 1 Intro|          the sense of sight. The colour of white, or any other colour,

 3 Intro|     differences of form, number, colour. But the conception of an
 4 Intro|    always attaching to them some colour or association of sense.
 5 Intro|       use of the word there is a colour of sense, an indistinct
 6 Intro|     differences of form, number, colour, and the like. Neither is
 7 Intro| impressed upon the retina except colour, including gradations of
 8 Intro|    proofs that our sensations of colour, taste, and the like, are
 9 Intro|   thinkers, who in return take a colour from the popular language
10 Intro|        to the mind what too much colour is to the eye; but the truth
11 Intro|  exercise. Time, place, the same colour or sound or smell or taste,
12  Thea|        that which you call white colour is not in your eyes, and
13  Thea|         THEAETETUS: Then what is colour?~SOCRATES: Let us carry
14  Thea|           black, and every other colour, arises out of the eye meeting
15  Thea|          and that what we call a colour is in each case neither
16  Thea|          object,—each variety of colour has a corresponding variety
17  Thea|        combines in producing the colour; and so the eye is fulfilled
18  Thea|       which combined to form the colour is fulfilled with whiteness,
19  Thea|          and know the figure and colour of the letters, and we hear
20  Thea|          is passing into another colour, and is never to be caught
21  Thea|       still, can the name of any colour be rightly used at all?~
