Dialogue

 1 Intro|       this point we may take a longer or a shorter road, and as
 2 Intro|      see no harm in taking the longer, which is the way of mesotomy,
 3 Intro|      men became greyheaded; no longer did the animals spring out
 4 Intro|  preferring the shorter to the longer method;—if we divide in
 5 Intro|       fled away, and we are no longer tended by the Muses or the
 6 Intro|    king. The sophist too is no longer, as in the earlier dialogues,
 7 State|       world, when you could no longer make a division into parts
 8 State|       in the middle; but it is longer. We can take either of them,
 9 State|  desire, let us begin with the longer way; while we are fresh,
10 State| nurture; for no animal was any longer allowed to come into being
11 State|        discourse be shorter or longer is not to the point. No
12 State|       taken at length, but the longer and shorter are to be employed
13 State|        of these arts shall any longer be allowed to exercise absolute
