 2   I,  1 |            senses in which the term necessity is used. For there is absolute
 3   I,  1 |         used. For there is absolute necessity, manifested in eternal phenomena;
 4   I,  1 |           and there is hypothetical necessity, manifested in everything
 5   I,  1 |  productions of nature. The mode of necessity, however, and the mode of
 6   I,  1 |           absolute and hypothetical necessity exist; in what cases also
 7   I,  1 |             expressing hypothetical necessity is simply convertible, and
 8   I,  1 |            then two causes, namely, necessity and the final end. For many
 9   I,  1 |            simply as the results of necessity. It may, however, be asked,
10   I,  1 |           be asked, of what mode of necessity are we speaking when we
11   I,  1 |          may be called hypothetical necessity. Here is another example
12   I,  1 |             an axe, the axe must of necessity be hard; and, if hard, must
13   I,  1 |         hard; and, if hard, must of necessity be made of bronze or iron.
