 5 3|       we may regard all these colours [viz. all those based on
 6 3|    crimson, and some few such colours, their fewness being due
 7 3|       few. The other compound colours may be those which are not
 8 3|     it may be that, while all colours whatever [except black and
 9 3|       genesis of intermediate colours.~(2) Another is that the
10 3| hypothesis, too, a variety of colours may be conceived to arise
11 3|    say with the ancients that colours are emanations, and that
12 3|   when bodies are mixed their colours also are necessarily mixed
13 3|   existence of a plurality of colours—not superposition or juxtaposition.
