 1 VII, 3|        are defects, and neither excellence nor defect is an alteration:
 2 VII, 3|        defect is an alteration: excellence is a perfection (for when
 3 VII, 3|    anything acquires its proper excellence we call it perfect, since
 4 VII, 3|        several bodily defect or excellence involves a relation with
 5 VII, 3|      possessor of the defect or excellence is naturally subject to
 6 VII, 3|     subject to alteration: thus excellence disposes its possessor to
 7 VII, 3|   departures from it: moreover, excellence puts its possessor in good
 8 VII, 3| sensible objects: for all moral excellence is concerned with bodily
 9 VII, 3|      any one of moral defect or excellence involves the presence in
10 VII, 3|       or pain (with which moral excellence and defect are always concerned),
