 1      I, 5 |       cause of good things that happen contrary to reasonable expectation:
 2      I, 6 |       over evil. This last will happen where the penalty is either
 3      I, 9 | happened or proving that it did happen.~The above are the general
 4      I, 10|      before us.~The things that happen by chance are all those
 5      I, 10|       have no purpose, and that happen neither always nor usually
 6      I, 10|     what they are. Those things happen by nature which have a fixed
 7      I, 10|    exact detail the things that happen contrary to nature, nor
 8      I, 10|         nor to ask whether they happen in some sense naturally
 9      I, 10|       such events. Those things happen through compulsion which
10      I, 12|      feel that surely it cannot happen again. Or those whose character
11     II, 1 |    think that it certainly will happen and be good for them: whereas
12     II, 2 |         order that anything may happen to yourself, or because
13     II, 2 |   Further, we are angered if we happen to be expecting a contrary
14     II, 2 |        where and when this will happen; and it is plain that the
15     II, 4 |        hater does not. Much may happen to make the angry man pity
16     II, 5 |      something destructive will happen to us, plainly nobody will
17     II, 5 |        who believes nothing can happen to him; we shall not fear
18     II, 5 |   things that we believe cannot happen to us, nor people who we
19     II, 5 |       something to be likely to happen to them, at the hands of
20     II, 5 |       confident about what will happen either because they have
21     II, 8 |    supposing that some evil may happen to us or some friend of
22     II, 8 |        that something evil will happen to them), nor yet by great
23     II, 8 |      ours, or expecting them to happen in the future.~So much for
24     II, 8 |       look forward to what will happen a hundred centuries hereafter,
25     II, 8 |        happened, or is going to happen soon, is particularly piteous:
26     II, 9 | happened to a man like him will happen to him too. All these feelings
27     II, 13|       any one else might easily happen to them, which, as we saw,
28     II, 18|     thing has happened, or will happen in future. Again, the topic
29     II, 19|     pair of contraries to be or happen, then it is possible for
30     II, 19|        if a thing was "going to happen", it has happened; if a
31     II, 19|        to do. That a thing will happen if another thing which naturally
32     II, 23|    things which are supposed to happen and yet seem incredible.
33     II, 24|         what is improbable does happen, and therefore it is probable
34     II, 24|     that improbable things will happen. Granted this, one might
