COISEACHD DLUTH

This is a loose translation of JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE by the Rev. John MacLeod, Church of Scotland Minister in Oban for many years. The melody is a version of that used in English. It can be found in the hymn book SEINNIBH DHAN TIGHEARNA.

This is a loose translation of the
hymn. It's purpose is simply to give
the English sense of the words.

S e mo mhiann-sa coiseachd dlùth,
Faisg air Iosa - ‘s E m Fhear-iùil,
Madainn, feasgar, fad na h-ùin;
Sin mo rùn, Iosa, sin mo rùn.

It is my will to walk close,
close to Jesus - he is my guide,
morning, afternoon and always;
that is my will, Jesus, that is my will.

Tha mi lag ach Thusa treun;
Iosa, glèidh mi anns gach ceum;
Bidh mi riaraicht fad mo
Coiseachd dlùth, cum mi dlùth riut fhèin.

I am weak but you are strong;
Jesus, protect each step I take;
I will be satisfied throughout my day
walking close, keep me close to you.

Anns an t-saoghal, mealladh dùil;
Ged a thuit mi, chan eil diù;
a chàireas cridhe brùit ?
ach Thu, Iosa, ach Thu?

In the world, deceptive hope;
Although I fell, there is no concern;
Who will heal the wounded heart?
Who but You, Jesus, who but you?

Nuair a chì mi crìoch mo ,
Air a chorp thig cadal bàis,
Anns an oidhche dhorch do làmh,
Anns a mhadainn tràth, na do ghràdh.

When I see the end of my day,
the sleep of death come upon the body
In the dark night your hand,
In the early morning, as your love.
