the English sense of the words.

Dèan dhòmhsa tuigse,
Cuir soills' air mo smuain;
Dh'iarrainn gur Tu
Bhiodh gam stiùireadh gach uair:
Làmh rium san oidhche
Is romham san tràth,
Rèidh rium sa mhadainn -
Agus glèidh mi tron là.

Grant me understanding,
Enlighten my thoughts;
I would ask that You
would guide me each hour:
Close to me by night
Before me at daybreak,
Reconcile me to you in the morning
and keep me throughout the day.

Ceartas dom bhriathran
Agus fìrinn dom bheul,
Thusa toirt iùil dhomh
‘S mi dlùth riut, a Dhè.
Athair, thoir gràdh dhomh,
Gabh mis thugad fhèin;
Cùm mi rid thaobh
Is bi daonnan nam chrè.

Grant righteousness to my speech
and truth to my mouth,
You, giving me guidance
And me, close to you, O God
Father, grant me your love,
Take me to yourself;
Keep me by your side
And always be part of me.

Dìon mi, a Thighearna,
Ri mo chliathaich ‘s gach feachd;
Cùm mi fod sgiath
‘S thoir dhomh misneachd is neart,
Fasgadh dom anam
Is mi rid uchd dlùth;
Treòraich mi dhachaigh,
Dhè chumhachdaich Thu.

Protect me, O Lord,
By my side, in every danger;
Keep me under your wing
And grant me courage and strength,
Shelter for my soul
And me close to your heart;
Guide me home
All powerful God

Beartas chan fhiach leam
No miann chlann nan daoin
Thusa nam fhianais
Fad làithean mo shaogh il;
Thusa, Dhè ghràsmhoir,
A-mhàin na mo chrìdh ,
Le blaths is gràdh sìorraidh,
Mo Thighearna ‘s mo Rìgh.

Wealth I don't value
Nor what the world desires
You in my presence
Each day of my life
You, O God of graciousness
Alone in my heart,
With warmth and eternal love,
My Lord and my God
