THA MI 'G AIDEACHADH MO LOCHDAN

THIS IS THE SECOND HYMN OF THE PARAPHRASE OF THE MASS. When the Mass was in Latin, this hymn would be sung at the CONFITEOR - or the I CONFESS - These hymns are still sung in parishes in the Islands. They were composed by Father Allan MacDonald. The references to the different parts of the Mass are found on the page containing the FIRST PART. (IntraText editor note: Hymn 036)

This is a loose translation of the
hymn. It's purpose is simply to give
the English sense of the words.

Tha mi ‘g aideachadh mo lochdan
Choisinn corraich dhomh bho Dhia,
Is tha an t-aithreachas gam leònadh
Thaobh gach uilc a rinn mi riamh.
Thug Thu mathanas don Ostal,
Ceannard air an dà fhear dheug -
Orms' dèan tròcair thaobh na dhòirt Thu
Dh' fhuil gu' m dhò-bheartan thoirt dhìom.

I confess my sins
that have angered God against me
Sorrow is causing me pain
for the many sins I've ever committed.
You forgave the apostle
Leader of the twelve -
Have mercy on me through the outpouring
of your blood to save me from my vices.
