An felix fuerit solum Quirini
Incepi dubitare, quod tulisset
Tot civilia bella Caesaresque:
At, divine Catulle! cum putâssem
Ut suavis fueris, et ut Diones
Cesto laeta Camaena cingeretur,
Tum fugere procul, repente, ocellis
Et civilia bella Caesaresque;
Atque omnis dubitatio recessit
Quin felix fuerit solum Quirini
Te, divine Catulle! te poeta.
