pūrvatra asiddham ity adhikāro 'yam ā
adhyāyaparisamāpteḥ /
yad ita ūrdhvam anukramiṣyāmaḥ pūrvatra asiddham ity evaṃ tad
veditavyam /
tatra yeyaṃ sapādasaptādhyāyī
anukrāntā, etasyām ayaṃ pādono
'dhyāyo 'siddho bhavati /
ita uttaraṃ ca uttara uttaro yogaḥ pūrvatra
pūrvatra asiddho bhavati asiddhavad bhavati /
siddhakāryam na karoti ity arthaḥ /
tad etad asiddhatvavacanam ādeśalakṣaṇapratiṣedhārtham,
utsargalakṣaṇabhāvārthaṃ ca /
asmā uddhara, dvā atra, dvā ānaya, asā ādityaḥ ity
atra vyalopasya śasiddhatvāt,
ād guṇaḥ (*6,1.87) iti, akaḥ savarṇe
dīrghaḥ (*6,1.101)
iti ca na bhavati /
amuṣmai, amuṣmāt, amuṣmin iti utvasya asiddhatvāt smāyādayo
bhavanti /

yaḥ ṭilopaḥ, tasya sthānivadbhāvāt tha ity etad dvirucyate /
anaglope iti pratiṣedhāt sanvadittvaṃ na asti, tena aujaḍhat
iti bhavati /
aujiḍhat ity etat tu ktinnantasya uḍhiśabdasya bhavati /
guḍaliṇmān iti guḍaliho 'sya santi iti matup, tatra ḍhatvajaśtvayor
asiddhatvāt jhayaḥ (*8,2.10) iti vatvaṃ na bhavati /

saptamīnirdeśāḥ, pañcamīnirdeśāś ca, teṣāṃ

ity uttarasya iti ca kartavye na asiddhatva bhavati, kāryakālaṃ

vipratiṣedhe param ity eṣā ca paribhāṣā yena pūrveṇa lakṣaṇena
saha spardhate, paraṃ lakṣaṇaṃ tatprati tasya asiddhatvān na
pravartate /
tathā ca visphoryam, agoryam iti guṇaḥ pareṇa hali ca (*8,2.77) iti dīrghatvena na
bādhyate /
apavādasya tu parasya api utsarge kartavye vacanaprāmaṇyād
asiddhatvaṃ na bhavati
