  8 Pre,     0,  8|            on whom the grace of the Holy Spirit is bestowed in the
  9 Pre,     0,  9|           incorporeal," is found in holy Scripture under another
 10 Pre,     0,  9|            regarding Christ and the Holy Spirit, as well as respecting
 11 Pre,     0, 10|          which he has discovered in holy Scripture, or which he has
 12   I,     I,  2|      passions have been consumed, a holy temple, worthy of Himself.
 13   I,     I,  2|          word of God, and where the Holy Spirit reveals spiritual
 14   I,     I,  2|            glory of the Lord in the holy Scriptures.~
 15   I,     I,  3|           saints participate in the Holy Spirit, He cannot therefore
 16   I,     I,  3|       comparison of medicine to the Holy Spirit, as they have been
 17   I,     I,  3|           many individuals. For the Holy Spirit differs widely from
 18   I,     I,  3|       medicine, in respect that the Holy Spirit is an intellectual
 19   I,     I,  8|            divine things out of the holy Scriptures, and who seek
 20   I,    II,  5|       supported by the authority of holy Scripture. The Apostle Paul
 21   I,    II, 13|           that either Christ or the Holy Spirit was good. But, as
 22   I,    II, 13|             the Son is born and the Holy Spirit proceeds, retaining
 23   I,   III    |                 Chapter III.-On the Holy Spirit.~
 24   I,   III,  1|         possible the subject of the Holy Spirit. All who perceive,
 25   I,   III,  1|          which were inspired by the Holy Spirit, i.e., the Gospels
 26   I,   III,  1|             Of the existence of the Holy Spirit no one indeed could
 27   I,   III,  2|                    2. Now, what the Holy Spirit is, we are taught
 28   I,   III,  2|             says, "And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me; " and by
 29   I,   III,  2|              where it is Said, "The Holy Spirit which is in thee."
 30   I,   III,  2|            testimonies, as when the Holy Spirit is described as having
 31   I,   III,  2|  resurrection, saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit; " and the saying
 32   I,   III,  2|             the angel to Mary, "The Holy Spirit will come upon thee; "
 33   I,   III,  2|             Jesus Lord, save by the Holy Spirit. In the Acts of the
 34   I,   III,  2|           Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit was given by the
 35   I,   III,  2|        learn that the person of the Holy Spirit was of such authority
 36   I,   III,  2|          naming of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and by joining to
 37   I,   III,  2|           Son, the name also of the Holy Spirit. Who, then, is not
 38   I,   III,  2|            exceeding majesty of the Holy Spirit, when he hears that
 39   I,   III,  2|            of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit has not forgiveness,
 40   I,   III,  3|             to find no statement in holy Scripture in which the Holy
 41   I,   III,  3|         holy Scripture in which the Holy Spirit could be said to
 42   I,   III,  3|          opinion, no other than the Holy Spirit, so far as I can
 43   I,   III,  4|          which denotes quality, the Holy Spirit is to be understood;
 44   I,   III,  4|           is a partaker also of the Holy Spirit, receiving it from
 45   I,   III,  4|           one another, and saying, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Loan
 46   I,   III,  4|         another, and saying, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Loan God of
 47   I,   III,  4|            and saying, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Loan God of hosts,"
 48   I,   III,  4| only-begotten Son of God and of the Holy Spirit. And we think that
 49   I,   III,  4|     understood of Christ and of the Holy Spirit. For all knowledge
 50   I,   III,  4|   revelation of the Son through the Holy Spirit, so that both of
 51   I,   III,  4|          said by the apostle of the Holy Spirit, when He declares, "
 52   I,   III,  4|          revealed them to us by His Holy Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth
 53   I,   III,  4|         bear them now; but when the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, is
 54   I,   III,  4|             to whom He will, so the Holy Spirit, who alone searches
 55   I,   III,  4|            from the Son. For if the Holy Spirit knows the Father
 56   I,   III,  4|          and foolish to confess the Holy Spirit, and yet to ascribe
 57   I,   III,  4|             else existed before the Holy Spirit, it was not by progressive
 58   I,   III,  4|  advancement that He came to be the Holy Spirit; as if any one should
 59   I,   III,  4|             when He was not yet the Holy Spirit He was ignorant of
 60   I,   III,  4|           knowledge He was made the Holy Spirit. For if this were
 61   I,   III,  4|             this were the case, the Holy Spirit would never be reckoned
 62   I,   III,  4|       unless He had always been the Holy Spirit. When we use, indeed,
 63   I,   III,  5|             with Father and Son and Holy Spirit, and does not obtain
 64   I,   III,  5|       Father or the Son without the Holy Spirit. And in discussing
 65   I,   III,  5|          the special working of the Holy Spirit, and of the Father
 66   I,   III,  5|           that the operation of the Holy Spirit does not take place
 67   I,   III,  5|           that the operation of the Holy Spirit takes place, who
 68   I,   III,  7|          manifestly intended of the Holy Spirit, who, after sinners
 69   I,   III,  7|          competently applied to the Holy Spirit, because He will
 70   I,   III,  7|         grace and revelation of the Holy Spirit bestowed by the imposition
 71   I,   III,  7|    resurrection, says, "Receive the Holy Spirit; " This is doubtless
 72   I,   III,  7|             newness of grace of the Holy Spirit. In this manner,
 73   I,   III,  7|        creature; but a share in the Holy Spirit we find possessed
 74   I,   III,  7|           Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." And on one occasion,
 75   I,   III,  7|            receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you."
 76   I,   III,  7|            to have a portion of the Holy Spirit, and who has relapsed,
 77   I,   III,  7|            of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Let no one indeed
 78   I,   III,  7|           from having said that the Holy Spirit is conferred upon
 79   I,   III,  7|            give a preference to the Holy Spirit over the Father and
 80   I,   III,  7|           also another grace of the Holy Spirit, which is bestowed
 81   I,   III,  8|          and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let us return to
 82   I,   III,  8|      therefore, is the grace of the Holy Ghost present, that those
 83   I,   III,  8|          those beings which are not holy in their essence may be
 84   I,   III,  8|             essence may be rendered holy by participating in it.
 85   I,   III,  8|             their holiness from the Holy Spirit,-those who have been
 86   I,   III,  8|        previously sanctified by the Holy Spirit are again made capable
 87   I,   III,  8|           the sanctification of the Holy Spirit, will nevertheless
 88   I,   III,  8|           it is by partaking of the Holy Spirit that any one is made
 89   I,   III,  8|   perfection by confirmation of His Holy Spirit and unceasing sanctification,
 90   I,   III,  8|         working of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in us, in its various
 91   I,   III,  8|           difficulty, to behold the holy and the blessed life, in
 92   I,   III,  8|        Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But if satiety should

105   I,     V,  3|        whether those who are called holy principalities began from

166  II,   VII    |                 Chapter VII.-On the Holy Spirit.~
167  II,   VII,  1|      regarding the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, it seemed right
168  II,   VII,  1|       brevity to the subject of the Holy Spirit.~It is time, then,
169  II,   VII,  1|           our ability regarding the Holy Spirit, whom our Lord and
