  1  I             |         al-Qaddûs, the Holy.~ ~5. as-Salâm, Peace.~ ~6. al-Mû'
  2  I             |        Fasting. 4. Almsgiving. 5. Pilgrimage.~ ~The first
  3  I             |     said shortly after sunset. 5. At nightfall. These are
  4  I,        I   |      and Thee we ask for aid. [5] Guide us in the right path,
  5  I,       II   |     these are the prosperous. [5] Verily, those who misbelieve,
  6  I,      III   |       the mighty, the wise.~ ~[5] He it is who has revealed
  7  I,       IV   |     with a reasonable speech. [5] Prove orphans until they
  8  I,        V   |      fear them, but fear me - [5] To-day is perfected for
  9  I,       VI   |         but they turned away; [5] and they have called the
 10  I,      VII   |      Verily, we were unjust!' [5] But we will of a surety
 11  I,     VIII   |       a generous provision.~ ~[5] As thy Lord caused thee
 12  I,       IX   |       loves those who fear.~ ~[5] But when the sacred months
 13  I,        X   |        they did misbelieve.~ ~[5] He it is who made the sun
 14  I,       XI   |      He is mighty over all.~ ~[5] Do they not, verily, fold
 15  I,      XII   |       saw them adoring me!'~ ~[5] He said, 'O my boy! tell
 16  I,     XIII   |      people who have sense.~ ~[5] And if thou shouldst wonder,
 17  I,      XIV   |       the mighty, the wise.~ ~[5] We did send Moses with
 18  I,       XV   |      it had its noted doom.~ ~[5] No nation can hasten on
 19  I,      XVI   |        is an open opponent!~ ~[5] The cattle too have we
 20 II,     XVII   |     height (of pride).'~ ~ ./. 5] And when the threat for
 21 II,    XVIII   |      they only speak a lie!~ ~[5] Haply thou wilt grieve
 22 II,      XIX   |     prayers to Thee, my Lord! [5] But I fear my heirs after
 23 II,       XX   |        settled on the throne! [5] His are what~ ~ ./. is
 24 II,      XXI   |        He hears and knows!'~ ~[5] 'Nay!' they say,'-a jumble
 25 II,     XXII   |       torment of the blaze!~ ~[5] O ye folk! if ye are in
 26 II,    XXIII   |        almsgiving are active. [5] And who guard their private
 27 II,     XXIV   |       workers of abomination. [5] Except such as repent after
 28 II,      XXV   |      life, or resurrection.~ ~[5] And those who misbelieve

 30 II,     XXVI   |        do not turn away from. [5] They have called (thee)
 31 II,    XXVII   |     wander~ ~ ./. blindly on! [5] These are they who shall

 33 II,     XXIX   |      He both hears and knows! [5] And he who fights strenuously,
 34 II,      XXX   |       He is mighty, merciful. [5]-God's promise!-God breaks
 35 II,     XXXI   |   these are the prosperous.~ ~[5] And amongst men is one 3
 36 II,    XXXII   |    years of what ye number.~ ~[5] That is He who knows the
 37 II,   XXXIII   |      He guides to the path!~ ~[5] Call them by their fathers'
 38 II,    XXXIV   |      and a noble provision.~ ~[5] But those who strive concerning
 39 II,     XXXV   |    unto God affairs return.~ ~[5] O ye folk! verily, God'
 40 II,    XXXVI   |     the mighty, the merciful! [5] That thou mayest warn a
 41 II,   XXXVII   |      Verily, your God is one, [5] the Lord of the heavens
 42 II,  XXXVIII   |        is a wondrous thing.~ ~[5] And the chiefs of them
 43 II,    XXXIX   |    whereon they do dispute.~ ~[5] Verily, God guides not
 44 II,       XL   |        cities deceive thee.~ ~[5] The people of Noah before
 45 II,      XLI   |   verily, we are acting too!' [5] Say, 'I am but a mortal
 46 II,     XLII   |       not charge over them.~ ~[5] Thus have we revealed an
 47 II,    XLIII   |        who are extravagant?~ ~[5] How many prophets have
 48 II,     XLIV   |     were sending (apostles) - [5] a mercy from thy Lord;
 49 II,      XLV   |      people who have sense.~ ~[5] These are the signs of
 50 II,     XLVI   |          paragraph continues] [5] and when men are gathered
 51 II,    XLVII   |        bind fast the bonds!~ ~[5] Then either a free grant (
 52 II,   XLVIII   |        God is knowing, wise - [5] to make the believers,
 53 II,     XLIX   |        of them have no sense; [5] but did they wait until
 54 II,        L   |        keeps (account).~ ~ ./. 5] Nay, they call the truth
 55 II,       LI   |  distributors 4 of affairs! - [5] verily, what ye are threatened
 56 II,      LII   |       the frequented house 3! [5] by the elevated roof 4!
 57 II,     LIII   |      an inspiration inspired! [5] One mighty in power 3 taught
 58 II,      LIV   |        with restraint in it - [5] wisdom far-reaching-but
 59 II,       LV   |        their appointed time;~ [5] The herbs and the trees
 60 II,      LVI   |   earth shall quake, quaking! [5] and the~ mountains shall
 61 II,     LVII   |       what ye do doth look!~ ~[5] His is the kingdom of the
 62 II,    LVIII   |       do is well aware!~ ~ ./. 5] But he who finds not (the
 63 II,      LIX   |      God is keen to punish!~ ~[5] What palm trees ye did
 64 II,       LX   |        thee the journey is!~ ~[5] Our Lord! make us not a
 65 II,      LXI   |       a compact building 1.~ ~[5] When Moses said to his
 66 II,     LXII   |       Lord of mighty grace.~ ~[5] The likeness of those who
 67 II,    LXIII   |     them, how they lie!~ ~ ./. 5] And when it is said to
 68 II,     LXIV   |    nature of men's breasts!~ ~[5] Has there not come to you
 69 II,      LXV   |     for him an easy affair.~ ~[5] That is God's command,
 70 II,     LXVI   |    that, will back him up.~ ~'[5] It may be that his Lord
 71 II,    LXVII   |     driven back and dulled!~ ~[5] And we have adorned the
 72 II,   LXVIII   |     hire that is not grudged! [5] and, verily, thou art of
 73 II,     LXIX   |     the Striking 1 Day a lie; [5] but as for Thamûd they
 74 II,      LXX   |     fifty thousand years 1.~ ~[5] Wherefore be patient with
 75 II,     LXXI   | deferred, did ye but know!'~ ~[5] Said he, 'My Lord! verily,

 77 II,    LXXII   |     God wide of the mark!~ ~'"[5] And we thought that men

 82 II,   LXXVII   |       the separators apart!~ ~[5] And by those who instil
 83 II,  LXXVIII   |     they shall know too well! [5] Again, nay, they shall
 84 II,    LXXIX   |    preceders who precede 2!~ ~[5] And those who manage the
 85 II,     LXXX   |        reminder profit him?~ ~[5] But as for him who is wealthy,
 86 II,    LXXXI   |        shall be neglected 1,~ [5] And when the beasts shall
 87 II,   LXXXII   |      are turned upside down,~ [5] The soul shall know what
 88 II,  LXXXIII   |    they shall be raised again [5] at the mighty day? the
 89 II,   LXXXIV   |       is in it, and is empty, [5] and gives ear unto its
 90 II,    LXXXV   |       of the pit were slain;~ [5] And the fire with its kindling,~
 91 II,   LXXXVI   |     has a guardian over it.~ ~[5] Then let man look from
 92 II,  LXXXVII   |     brings forth the pasture, [5] and then makes it dusky
 93 II, LXXXVIII   |    broil upon a burning fire; [5] shall be given to drink
 94 II,   LXXXIX   |    oath for a man of sense?~ ~[5] Hast thou not seen how
 95 II,       XC   |     created man in trouble.~ ~[5] Does he think that none
 96 II,      XCI   |    night when it covers him!~ [5] And the heaven and what
 97 II,     XCII   |    efforts are diverse!~ ~ ./. 5] But as for him who gives
 98 II,    XCIII   |     for thee than the former; [5] and in the end thy Lord
 99 II,     XCIV   | exalted for thee thy renown?~ [5] Verily, with difficulty
100 II,      XCV   |      in the best of symmetry. [5] Then we will send him back
101 II,     XCVI   |       Lord is most generous!~ [5] Who taught the pen!~ Taught
102 II,    XCVII   |     Lord with every bidding.~ [5] Peace it is until rising
103 II,   XCVIII   |      the standard religion.~ ~[5] Verily, those who disbelieve
104 II,     XCIX   |       shall tell her tidings, [5] because thy Lord inspires
105 II,        C   |       raise up dust therein,~ [5] And cleave through a host
106 II,       CI   |  flocks of carded wool!~ ~ ./. 5] And as for him whose balance
107 II,      CII   |       the end ye shall know!~ [5] Not so! Did ye but know
108 II,      CIV   |      hurled into El 'Hutamah! [5] And what shall make thee
109 II,       CV   |    them stones of baked clay, [5] and make them like blades
110 II,     CVII   |      But we to those who pray [5] and who are careless in
111 II,      CIX   |        I serve what ye serve; [5] nor will ye serve what
112 II,      CXI   |      wife carrying faggots! - [5] on her neck a cord of palm
113 II,    CXIII   |     the blowers upon knots 4; [5] and from the evil of the
114 II,     CXIV   |  whisperer 1, who slinks off, [5] who whispers into the hearts
