 1  I             | inhabitants. The Jews of YaTHrib, struck by this sudden renunciation
 2  I             |       root. Thus ẓaraba means 'he struck,' and qatala, 'he killed,'
 3  I             |           and maqtûl signify 'one struck' and 'one killed.' A sentence,
 4  I             |          is to be called John: is struck dumb for three days as a
