 1     I|       Mother of Rome, delight of Gods and men,~ Dear Venus that
 2     I| withstand,~ Whom nor the fame of Gods nor lightning's stroke~
 3     I|         prove the supreme law of Gods and sky,~ And the primordial
 4     I|       accomplished by no tool of Gods.~ Suppose all sprang from
 5     I|       mortals, nor holy limbs of gods~ Could keep their place
 6    II|       this, that not without the gods,~ In such adjustment to
 7    II|    perish. When they feign~ That gods have stablished all things
 8    II|       before fair temples of the gods,~ Beside the incense-burning
 9    II|           by sacred majesties of gods! -~ Touch is indeed the
10    II|        Wherefore great mother of gods, and mother of beasts,~
11    II|        long remove:~ For all the gods must of themselves enjoy~
12    II|         calling earth~ Mother of Gods, if only he will spare~
13    II|          own accord,~ Rid of all gods. For - by their holy hearts~
14   III|         to vision the majesty of gods,~ And their abodes of everlasting
15   III|          the black sheep, and to gods below~ Offer the honours,
16   III|          life even worthy of the gods.~ ~ So then this soul is
17   III|        in life an empty dread of gods~ Urges mortality, and each
18    IV|        lonely spots~ And even by gods deserted. This is why~ They
19    IV|     wings by night the groves of gods,~ When in their gentle slumbers
20     V|      dignify by ranking with the gods? -~ And all the more since
21     V|          Concerning the immortal gods themselves,~ Many pronouncements
22     V|       their breasts~ That awe of gods, which halloweth in all
23     V|      groves, lakes, idols of the gods.~ Also I shall untangle
24     V|        roll along by any plan of gods.~ For even those men who
25     V|   unworthy of numbering with the gods,~ That well they may be
26     V|      Believe the sacred seats of gods are here~ In any regions
27     V|        Indeed, the nature of the gods, so subtle,~ So far removed
28     V|    behoof~ To praise the work of gods as worthy praise,~ And that '
29     V|         first was planted in the gods~ The archetype for gendering
30     V|    crumble? - Not how shrines of gods~ And idols crack outworn? -
31     V|    albeit he 'scape~ The race of gods and men, he yet must dread~ '
32     V|        Hath spread divinities of gods abroad~ Through mighty nations,
33     V|         Still the new temples of gods from land to land~ And drives
34     V|      seeing excelling visages of gods~ With mind awake; and in
35     V|          the seats and vaults of gods, because~ Across the sky
36     V|     palms~ Before the shrines of gods, nor yet to dew~ Altars
37     V|          us, percase,~ It be the gods' immeasurable power~ That
38     V|         whose mind with dread of gods~ Cringes not close, whose
39     V|         he not seek the peace of gods with vows,~ And beg in prayer,
40     V|      abase themselves,~ And unto gods in all affairs of earth~
41    VI|        things unto the empery of gods~ And to concede the kingly
42    VI|      thoughts which be~ Unworthy gods and alien to their peace,~
43    VI|      holy majesties~ Of the high gods be harmful unto thee,~ As
44    VI|          That essence supreme of gods could be by this~ So outraged
45    VI|         with the notion that the gods,~ Even they, the Calm Ones
46    VI|    serene breast~ Shrines of the gods; nor wilt thou able be~
47    VI|        of mortals and delight of gods,~ Point out the course before
48    VI|         tokens of occult will of gods,~ Even as to whence the
49    VI|        But if Jupiter~ And other gods shake those refulgent vaults~
50    VI|          asunder holy shrines of gods~ And his own thrones of
51    VI|      Divine,~ The worship of the gods: the woe at hand~ Did over-master.
