1 I| Mother of Rome, delight of Gods and men,~ Dear Venus that 2 I| withstand,~ Whom nor the fame of Gods nor lightning's stroke~ 3 I| prove the supreme law of Gods and sky,~ And the primordial 4 I| accomplished by no tool of Gods.~ Suppose all sprang from 5 I| mortals, nor holy limbs of gods~ Could keep their place 6 II| this, that not without the gods,~ In such adjustment to 7 II| perish.
