 1     I|       a like nature, - by thy vain device~ For thee will perish
 2     I|   coequal to our days,~ But a vain error has given these dreams
 3    II|    random, without design, in vain -~ And at last those seeds
 4    II|     hands~ Have fallen out in vain, and, as he thinks~ How
 5   III|  title "sense"~ He battles in vain indubitable facts:~ For

12    IV|   keep in bonds of love -~ In vain, since ne'ertheless thou
13    IV|  their wives -~ And plague in vain godheads and sacred lots.~
14     V|       chasms of the sea.~ But vain - since winds (that over-sweep
15     V|   begetting of this sort - in vain,~ Since Nature banned with
16     V|      free will to thrive~ And vain for any service unto us~
17     V|   uprisen would often rave in vain,~ Without all end or outcome,
18     V|       pass a quiet life -~ In vain, in vain; since, in the
19     V|     quiet life -~ In vain, in vain; since, in the strife to
20     V|     anywise endure~ Perpetual vain dingdong in their ears~
21     V|      And friendly gales? - in vain, since, often up-caught~
22     V|   hold in chains - and yet in vain,~ Since fleshed with pell-mell
23     V|       hoofs a-paw in air.~ In vain - since there thou mightest
24     V|    the greater blame~ With us vain men today: for cold would
25     V|      of the Plebs.~ So man in vain futilities toils on~ Forever
26    VI|       And spend themselves in vain? - perchance, even so~ To
