 1     I|    kind~ Throughout the lands lay miserably crushed~ Before
 2     I|       cattle, fat and drowsy, lay their bulk~ Along the joyous

 9     V| thrones~ And haughty sceptres lay o'erturned in dust;~ And
10     V|     thing of price;~ And gold lay useless, blunted with dull
11    VI|        Their frames~ Forspent lay prone. With silent lips
12    VI|       though corpse on corpse lay piled~ Unburied on ground,
